We’ve become to define ‘Couple Goals’ by celeb pairs who aren’t afraid to poke fun at one another in front of the whole world on social media.
We’re talking about our all time fave couple such as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds as well as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend who have created a world where ether strength of a relationship is defined by how well as couple has the ability to roast one another. Well, turns out they have the strongest relationship out of all of us!
And science is on our side to back us up! Researches from Appalachian State University state that poking fun at a partner is one of the strongest indicators of a healthy relationship, as long as you both know where to draw the line.
Professor Jeffrey Hall has reviewed the findings and come to the conclusion that out of 39 studies of over 15,000 participants, people think relationship satisfaction is created through couple’s ability to create humour together.
In other words, inside jokes are imperative and are key to a healthy relationship that will last for a very long time!
The professor goes on to explain, “Say you and your partner share a quirky sense of humour, but romantic comedies or sit-coms do nothing for either of you, it’s not that any style or a sense of humour is any better or worse. What matters is that you both see quirky humour as hysterical. If you share a sense of what’s funny, it affirms you and affirms your relationship through laughter.”
“Make sure that not only outer personalities mesh, but your honours do too – so no one takes offence, feels hurt or gets defensive.” explains Professor Hall.
“When you roast each other’s quirks, you are effectively pointing out the little, sometimes ignored sides to your personalities,” Hall states. “Those quirks tend to be the things that you love most about your partner.”
And we couldn’t agree any more! I mean, don’t you remember when Ryan Reynold trolled his wife Blake Lively on her birthday? Absolutely classic!
