Earlier this week, we were treated to a stunning lunch at Sydney’s Chiswick restaurant to celebrate the official launch of jeweller Matthew Ely. He has just opened his new boutique and workshop located on Ocean Street in Woollahra. Matthew has been surrounded by precious stones ever since he was young. The reason? His family owned a well-established jewellery business in Penrith, New South Wales.
At only 12, Ely knew where his passion was and wanted to be involved in the family business. It was then that he wrote an application to his parents, asking for a position with the story. The rest is history.
Matthew now travels the world to source beautiful gems and eye-catching sparklers. He has worked alongside some of the world’s best diamond setters including the man who reset the English Crown Jewels. But what inspired us most about Matthew’s launch (apart from the breathtaking pink diamonds, scrumptious food and great company) was Matthew’s passion for what he does. He said, “I want to educate my clients on the complex world of gems and diamonds, and how they travel through the world to end up in their personal pieces of fine jewellery.” Sign us up for that class!
Guests were given the opportunity to try on the pieces and were each gifted their very own diamond. Yes. You read correctly. A diamond!
So sit back and relax. We have some show-stopping pieces to show you from this talented jeweller’s latest collection.
