Would you ever marry your best friend? Of course, we all say our spouses are our best friends, but that’s not what we’re talking about! Instead, we’re talking about marriages for platonic best friends, a ceremony where two best friends vow to be partners in life. Which is exactly what Kylie Jenner and her best friend Jordyn recently did!
In the season finale of Jenner’s reality show Life of Kylie, Kylie and her (platonic) best friend Jordyn Woods took part in a friendship commitment ceremony in Peru, pledging to be always be there for each other, ‘in this life and after,’ as they stated in their vows. Both of them wore white and carried flowers. There was even a ring exchange!
“Jordyn, I promise to encourage you, inspire you and love you through all the good and bad times. I will forever be there to laugh with you and lift you up when you are down,” Kylie vowed in the ceremony. “I vow to love you through all our adventures and I vow to take you as my best friend.”
So why the commitment ceremony? “Jordyn is my ride or die and vice versa. We might not always be together but we will always be connected in the mountains of Peru,” Kylie explained in the episode. “I want people to know that we are more than [just friends].”
Of course, we all hope that we stay friends with our besties until we’re old and grey, but this is next level #friendshipgoals. In fact, this is the sort of thing we have come to expect from the sister of Kim Kardashian, and we’re pretty sure it was just a funny media stunt, but as the Kardashian/Jenner family is nothing if not trendsetters, it leaves us wondering – are we about to see friendship marriage ceremonies popping up everywhere now? Is this weird, or adorable? Would you ever “marry” your best friend? Let us know!
