Western Sydney couple Sue Berkley and Eli Bob took their love of Costco to a whole new level last weekend and got exactly what they bargained for. The duo decided to have their wedding at a location they share a mutual love for – Costco Crossroads Casula.
Yes, you read that right, Fairies. Everyone’s favourite discounted mega shopping centre jazzed itself up for the occasion too, with Sue and Eli the first couple in Australia to exchange vows and celebrate their union at the international shopping chain.
“I get to go to Costco on my wedding day, it’s just awesome”, Ms. Berkeley told A Current Affair, who were in attendance at the rehearsal.
“Where else can I get married to the one I love, in the place that I love, surrounded by the people I love?”
The ceremony took place next to the tyre isle while the food court doubled as the reception, with 18-inch pizzas, meat pies, and unlimited soft drinks replacing the usual three-course chicken or fish tradition, not to mention a wedding cake was branded with the classic ‘Costo Wholesale’ logo.
With an advertising one-liner that describes it as a place ‘dedicated to bringing our members the best possible prices on quality merchandise,’ and a bill of any $10 a head, this couple definitely got one Costo bargain.
Dressed in a bright purple gown, the bride was escorted down the aisle (isle?) of the superstore to a Costco trellis covered in faux red roses, with Sue and Eli tying the knot whilst surrounded by 90 of their close friends and family (along with some very confused customers).
The two plan on spending their savings on their honeymoon cruise later in the year, and we do suspect that each Costco visit will awake some fond memories of the occasion.
