Candlelight and Magic Views At Pier One

“I should have seen it coming.”

A birthday weekend away in Melbourne for a Coldplay concert had kept Marissa distracted enough to not realise what Jake had spent months carefully and secretly preparing. With some Melbourne-based bloggers helping him to pull it off, Jake sent Marissa on a treasure hunt, complete with clues that sent her on a pampering trip around the city.

Come nightfall, Jake got down on one knee and proposed to Marissa at Sake, her favourite Japanese restaurant.

“I remember thinking, ‘This birthday has been perfect, how can he possibly top this when he eventually proposes?'”

The wedding theme tied into the wintery climate perfectly, with hues of burgundy, grey, pink, and white covering everything from the wedding invitations to the bridesmaids’ faux fur coats.

Marissa chose to wear a slim, backless Leah Da Gloria gown and worked closely with the designer to create a unique dress that combined matte white beads and pearls in a flower grid shape and a nude organza underlay to create a oyster-coloured gown. A personalised “Mrs. Watson” leather jacket from a friend of Marissa’s completed the winter bride look.

With wedding photographers Siempre by their side to capture every moment, Marissa and Jake had an intimate ceremony at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church before enjoying a relaxed afternoon around Barangaroo with their bridal party. The reception took them to Pier One, with uninterrupted views of Sydney Harbour and a floral dream brought to life by Designs by Booshi.

“People often talk about the rush of photographs with the bridal party between ceremony and reception. Surprisingly, we had all the time in the world to socialise, relax and laugh with everyone during this time, thanks to the talented team at Siempre.”

Congratulations to Marissa and Jake!
