Like most Brides, I wanted to drop a dress size or two in the lead-up to the Big Day; but, unlike most Brides, I had an extra reason to do so.
I wanted to stage a big reveal mid-reception where I would remove my full-length skirt and show-off a fabulous, fringed party dress – Ambitious? Yes! Nerve-wracking? Hell yes!
The problem came a few weeks before my Big Day. After months of dieting (goodbye bread, cheese and red frogs) and daily gym classes, I still had that extra few kilos I just couldn’t budge.
So, of course, I signed up for HYPOXI, the low intensity work-out that targets the stubborn fat and cellulite around your butt, hips, tummy and thighs. I was in a bit of a hurry to drop the fat, because we were only a month out, so I booked in for three sessions each week (generally Monday, Wednesday and Friday), cut out caffeine (because DYK caffeine is one of the main culprits for cellulite!?) and crossed my fingers.
Every afternoon that I arrived for a session, I popped in the HYPOXIdermology machine for 20-minutes, grabbed my iPhone and did some serious Wedding admin (paying bills, booking suppliers, etc) while the suction cups inside the space-suit gave me a relaxing massage.
I then jumped into the S120 machine for a 30-minute cycle while the vacuums changed pressure around me (the change in pressure helps your body burn fat). It’s not like the traditional gym cycle classes where there’s an angry trainer yelling at your to go faster, it’s more like a slow Sunday morning bike ride through the local park.
While you’re lightly pedalling, you can use the studio’s iPad to catch-up on the latest eps of The Bachelor, or get through some work emails. It’s so low-impact that on most days, I didn’t even work-up a sweat!
I noticed a difference in skin texture (ie. less cellulite) after just three sessions, but was dubious when it came time to get my half-way measurements. Could I really lose cms from my hips, butt and thighs in two short weeks?
It seems I could.
Mid-way measurements showed that I’d lost a total of 7.3cm and 1.2kilos– most importantly, I can already see a difference in the 3D body scanner (hello waist)!
