This may be the first and last time we are thankful that there’s no Wedding bill that costs $5, because Australia has just released it’s new $5 note and it’s pretty underwhelming.
What used to be a perfect palette of pastel pink and purple (hello, Wedding inspo) has now been changed into an 80s-style mash-up of bright yellow, blue, apricot and pink.
People have taken to Twitter in outrage, calling it ‘hideous’ and ‘ugly’ and saying it looks ‘like vomit’. The last time it was changed was back in 1995 and this new design marks the 50th anniversary of Australia’s conversion to the decimal system.
