A Slovenian Wedding With A Side of Pyrotechnics

When Josip proposed to Marina, it was everything she hoped it would be. As it was Josip’s birthday, Marina wasn’t expecting a surprise proposal as they spent the day at one of Zagreb’s many spas.

In a room filled with candles, Marina turned around and found Josip on one knee.

It was very intimate, just the way we like it,” Marina told us. “He really tried to be perfect. And it was! I was so touched, I started to cry. He is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

To start off the wedding day with a surprise, Marina’s maid of honour and bridesmaids filled her room with pink, white, and silver balloons, something which Marina loves.

Describing the wedding as having a “relaxed elegance” about it, the two were surrounded by 150 of their closest family and friends, who partook in traditional wedding customs and added an exciting atmosphere to the day.

One particular stand out moment was when one of the groom’s guests stole Marina’s bouquet – a Slovenian tradition – and the best man had to sing a song in order to get it back. Once he started his song, everyone else joined in.

Their friends also put on a pyrotechnic show as they drove across a bridge towards the restaurant, creating a visual that got the whole city talking.

“Everyone tried hard to make our day perfect, and it was! With their energy, they made our wedding even more beautiful.”
