A stunning view overlooking the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a Shangri-la hotel room filled with rose petals created the perfect moment for Wil to propose to Alyce.
“I spun around and on the bed were the words ‘Marry Me’ in red rose petals, with Wil next to it on one knee. I burst into tears and actually had to confirm with him that it was all real. After I, of course, said yes, we had an amazing degustation dinner at The Gantry.”
With a proposal like that, Alyce and Wil’s wedding was sure to be just as wonderful. Styled with a modern, elegant theme, it was a Winter Wonderland come to life, with temperatures dropping as low as 8 degrees during the outdoor ceremony. Thankfully, the happy couple kept their guests in mind and provided blankets with the cute catchphrase, ‘to have and to hold in case you get cold’.
“I wanted to be different and have more of a party where we could all have fun. We went for a white and gold colour scheme, with gold tall stands on the tables and big white and green flowers and candles in between. Our charger plates were clear and gold with gold cutlery and gold name tags. We also made sure our grandparents were with us during our important day, so we kept photos on them on our wishing well table.”
While Alyce’s most memorable moment was having fun dancing with her loved ones (and marrying the man of her dreams), Wil’s was first being able to see his bride. With her hair styled by The Upstyle Queen, Christine Azzopardi, Alyce certainly did look like the picture of perfection.
As the night carried on, the party didn’t die down, and it certainly met Alyce’s expectation to be unique and different.
“I didn’t throw my bouquet nor a garter. We didn’t do a big entrance into the reception, instead, we entered through the cellar door during canapes. Our bridal party did a tunnel that we walked through and all the wedding guests joined in. We didn’t even have a wedding cake, we had a macaron tower instead, with a cake on top just to cut.”
After the couple’s first dance, the dance floor filled up and stayed that way for the rest of the night.
“The boys on the dance floor took off their ties and started using them as a limbo stick and everyone had a go. All of my bridesmaids also started dancing with their skirts like Spanish dancers, which made it all so fun.”
The best part of it all was that Alyce managed to remain completely calm in the lead up to the wedding, making the experience that much more enjoyable.
“My bridesmaid’s dresses were custom made and were given to me dirty with drawing marks on them, but I just took the problems as they came and made sure I didn’t stress out.”
With a fun night filled with dancing and laughter, we’re sure this was a wedding to remember. Congratulations to the happy couple!
