A Greek Cypriot Wedding With A Dance To Butterfly Kisses

When planning their wedding, Anita and Nicholas knew they wanted a modern and elegant wedding that incorporated their Greek Cypriot traditions.

“The planning of our big and beautiful wedding was something we did so well together. Every bit of detail was decided by us, with the occasional checking in with our mums and sisters for advice!”

Anita’s bridesmaids also added their own touch to the wedding, creating a sign that read “The day is finally here. Nick & Anita” and hanging it up on a bridge as the couple made their way separately to the church.

But the surprises didn’t end there, with their whole bridal party taking over the dancefloor at the reception for a special performance.

“Our bridal party surprised us with a performance from the Cypriot Performing Group which our bridesmaids and Groomsmen had been practicing for months before the wedding.”

Happy tears were shed, not only from the guests, but from the bride herself as she danced with her father.

“We danced to Butterfly Kisses, a song my Baba used to sing to me and my sister when we were young.”

Of the entire day, one of Anita and Nick’s favourite moments was when they finally saw each other in the Church.

“When we first saw each other in the Church and when we were standing side by side on the alter. We couldn’t stop looking and smiling at each other. Such a moment to take in, knowing you are marrying your soul mate.”
