A colourful DIY Wedding full of inspiration

Groom James had planned a romantic weekend back in Brisbane for the proposal, however the night before he got a little too excited and popped the question over a Friday night ritual of pajamas, cheese and a glass of wine on the balcony in Central Queensland. It ended up being a flawless, intimate, spontaneous moment!

Fast-forward to their wonderfully creative Wedding where the main aim was for it to be a feast for the eyes, relaxed, fun, unique and memorable. The wanted to have a big, happy party – and for Skye, that meant lots of colour!

In the lead up to the wedding Skye made thousands of colourful geometric diamonds to hang from the roof, each diamond took ten minutes from start to finish – stencil, cut, fold, glue, glitter and string. It was a labour of love and a colour explosion for guests as soon as they walked through the door of the Coronation Hall which provided the ultimate blank canvas to add their very own special touch.

Relflecitng back on their special day, the couple told Wedded Wonderland, “The laid back ceremony was special to us both, especially to have a close friend marry us. The speeches were all lovingly entertaining; however James’ brother and best man,Scott, went above and beyond. At a previous wedding, James and Scott had made a bet, that whoever got married first – the other would have to sing a love ballad at the wedding, unbeknownst to any guest, at the end of his speech Scott gave an enthusiastic rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’, it was a song that just kept giving and giving!”

Be inspired by this unique Wedding, Fairies!
