A Chic Wedding At Sydney’s Beta Bar

Everything about Rachel and Matt‘s wedding exuded luxury.

With Rachel getting ready at the Hilton Sydney and Matt at the Meriton Suites with their family by their sides, the loved up couple excitedly prepared for their glamorous wedding in the heart of the CBD.

“I’ve always loved the QVB,” Rachel told us. “I used to live in Queensland and would fly down to Sydney and dance in the Town Hall.”

Rachel’s love of the elegant structure inspired the choice behind the wedding’s classic theme, with a Black Tie dress code and neutral colour scheme. “For the florals, I really am not a fan of greenery. It’s just not me. I love nudes, neutrals, and more nudes.”

As a professional makeup artist, Rachel also insisted on doing her own makeup for the big day, saying, “I felt that was such a sentimental moment, for me to just do my favourite thing, by myself, as I prepared myself to marry the man of my dreams.”

Exchanging their vows in a lavishly styled ceremony by She Designs at Beta Bar, Rachel and Matt had “the best day ever” as they soaked in the sun for a photoshoot around Martin Place, Town Hall and Castlereagh street before heading for a fun-filled reception at The Tea Room in the QVB.

Breaking convention, the couple chose to have a champagne tower instead of a traditional wedding cake as they felt that cakes at weddings often go to waste.

“Matt and I never eat the cake as we’re always having too much fun tearing up the d-floor. We still wanted the ‘cut the cake’ moment so I said, ‘Let’s get a champagne tower and we can use this as our toast moment!'” Rachel explained.

“Two separate groups of our best friends unknowingly gifted us two bottles of Dom Pérignon for our engagement gift, so it only made sense for us to open these on our wedding day and use them to pour into the tower!”

The day was captured perfectly by Mark Jay Photography, who described Matt and Rachel’s wedding as one with “so much style, glamour and sophistication but this was balanced with their warm, romantic and truly loved-up excitement at becoming husband and wife.”

“A lot of couples told us: ‘Spend time together and enjoy your day together,'” said Rachel. “Matt and I literally didn’t leave each other’s sides all day and night. We really soaked up all of the emotions and partied like rock stars together with our friends all night.”

Congratulations Rachel and Matt!
