8 Wedding Trends On The Rise In 2018

The experts at Etsy have done it again!

After monitoring all the wedding-themed fashion, decorations and commemorative items, Etsy has finally released their 2018 Wedding Trend Guide, highlighting the most popular items from the online shop so far this year.

Stay on trend for your wedding this year and gather as much inspiration as you can because these 8 trends are taking the wedding scene by storm.

Statement Veils

Attention-grabbing veils are dominating the wedding scene this year, with searches for “dramatic veils” increasing by 213 per cent since 2017. Brides are ditching the traditional style of veil, instead choosing to go with veils with luxe length, floral embellishments, detailed appliques, flowering fringe and romantic long draping. We’ve even seen dip-dye making an entrance this year.. These show-stopping veils are perfect for the bohemian bride, giving your wedding look that fantastic edgy element.

Embellished Bridal Gowns

Veils aren’t the only ones getting a modern makeover – wedding dresses are also beginning to stray away from traditional white styles. Etsy has found that embroidered embellishments are one trend that’s sticking, with “embroidered bridal wear” now 40 per cent more available than in 2017. Jump in on this trend and see how hand-stitched embellishments can give your dress that little bit something extra this wedding season.

Clear Acrylics

With the ability to blend seamlessly into any wedding theme or colour scheme, clear acrylic stationary is one trend we are all loving. This versatile trend meshes contemporary and minimal styles into one with stunning place cards, table numbers, table plans and welcome signs. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Bridal Capes

When we first heard the term “bridal capes” we were a little anxious, but pleasantly surprised at the stunning beauty this element adds to a traditional wedding gown. Brides are now choosing to cover up with long, flirty capes as an alternative to veils. This up and coming trend is also a great way to transform your look from your formal ceremony to a fun reception.

Pet-Friendly Weddings

Who doesn’t want to include their furry friends in their big day? There are so many different ways you can effortlessly incorporate your pets into your wedding, from dogs of honour, ring bearers, or just simply having them in your wedding pictures. This trend is a beautiful way to create lasting memories with your furry babies; ones that you will never forget.

Stacking Rings

It seems less isn’t always more with ring stacking making a dramatic return in 2018. Brides are all about switching up their ring finger accessories, mixing and matching new brands and even pairing them with their engagement rings on a daily basis. Turning away from traditional wedding rings in favour of more intricate designs gives your wedding and marriage a personalised and unique feel.

Modern Guestbooks

Gone are the days of big hefty guestbooks that take up valuable space in your home. Couples are looking for more alternative ways to still receive messages of love and advice from their nearest and dearest, but now in a more modern way. Jenga games, puzzles, globes and message boxes are all fantastic guest book alternatives that are taking the wedding scene by storm this year.

Southwestern Style

Muted greenery, bright pops of colours and textured wood details is what this trend is all about. The traditional rustic-style trend is taking a step forward with a Southwestern spin, with a 72 per cent increase in product view associated with “Southwestern weddings.” With adorable mini cactus wedding favours and vibrant coloured wedding invitations, what’s not to love about this trend?
