Why These Brides Chose Floral Over White For Their Big Day

When it comes to choosing a wedding dress, most brides always don the white, ivory, even cream. But it seems a new trend in bridal design is reopening its doors and influencing many brides-to-be around the world.

On her special day, Kirsten went against tradition, donning a striking Wendy Makin unique floral gown in a classic princess silhouette alongside her stunning bridesmaids in short bright pink and purple dresses.

“Our wedding was such an emotional but fun-filled day. We had friends and family come from the UK and all over Australia to celebrate with us and it was really special to share the day with them. Everything was just perfect,” the couple told Wedded Wonderland.

The transformation of a traditional ‘white’ wedding has now evolved into a global palette of colourful florals.

Wearing Australian designer Carla Zampatti, Nicole Valentine Don wanted to embellish her look with volumimous 3D elements in the form of floral and colour. She hand-dyed 15 additional flowers herself, and enlisted the help of designer Roger Searle to do all the beading. “He had a lot of fun with it and hand beaded every flower differently, even doing some in all white and clear beads. I was so happy with the unique result,” she says.

According to Femail, Kristin, a Chicago professor wore a multicoloured Alice + Olivia gown on her big day.

‘I was looking to make a statement with my wedding dress. I had spent endless hours scouring the internet, searching for a traditional ivory dress that was elegant, memorable, and eye-catching’, Kristin says.

Lara, a wedding photographer wore a Corston gown for her Kangaroo Valley Wedding in New South Wales.

‘The dress was exactly what I wanted. I also loved that it was so durable and comfortable since it was made out of silk. I like that I can wear it again in other contexts. I am floral obsessed,’ Lara explains to Femail.
