Wedding Trends To Avoid In 2020

Let’s be real, Fairies, it is every bride’s dream to create a unique wedding day for everyone around her to enjoy and celebrate. This desire has birthed a range of trends, and while some of them are creative and show-stopping in a distinctive way, others have lead to confusion and a certain level of dysfunction.

If you are a trendy bride-to-be, struggling to narrow down your nuptial trends, here is what we advice you to avoid in 2020!

Complicated Hashtags

The impact of social media on wedding trends has been crazy to say the least! Nowadays, it is rare for a day to go by without seeing a lavish proposal on Instagram, or a full wedding album uploaded to Facebook. With this ability to livestream your nuptials, also comes the call for a quirky and unique wedding hashtag. It is safe to say, however, that wedding guests seem to be quite fed up with the extravagant mash-ups of names created for them to share. Keep it short, sweet and simple, Fairies!

Doughnut Walls

While we can all agree that doughnut walls are not only mouth-watering, but also aesthetically pleasing, it is also important to understand that there are a lot of negatives that follow. Doughnut walls are lovely in theory, yet also impractical. From the risk of your guests brushing past and ruining their outfit, to the awkward look of leftovers that no one really wants because God-knows-where that darn fly sat; doughnut walls are perhaps not worth the ‘gram.

Confusing Poems In Invitations

This one is less popular, but is worth the mention. You know those slightly passive aggressive wedding invites with a cute little poem? Such as the ones that hint Laura and Sam reaaally, really need a cooking utensils for their kitchen renovations? Or those riddles that create tacky and (slightly) enjoyable rhymes? Well, Fairies, even we have to admit that they can be a tiny bit annoying. We recommend that you stick with the good old classic ‘who, when, where’ invitations!

Trash The Dress

This one is probably THE most painful trend to ever exist. Oh sweet Fairies, why would you fork out a small fortune on the dress you dreamed about since you were a little girl, the dress that made your husband tear up at the altar – only to destroy it? While we understand that this is a fun activity to perform at your wedding or even at a photoshoot with your new husband, we recommend that you steer towards a donation, re-selling, or even store away for your own daughter’s big day!

Cake-In-The-Face

Well, sure; it’s funny, it’s different and it sure to entertain your guests. However, is anyone ever really that glad to have icing shoved up their nostrils? Your beloved and yourself have spent the entire day being pampered and groomed in order to look best on your big day. Is one minute of entertainment really worth being stuck in the bathroom as you try to pull out (pricey!) chocolate sponge cake from your false eyelashes? Think again, Fairies!

Remember, Fairies! This is simply our opinion, no matter what you choose to do on your big day, our ultimate advice to you is to do whatever will make you happy!
