VENUE: BEACHSIDE DOJO, MANLY NSW

Northern Beaches cool meets Hamptons-style comfort in this architecturally-designed venue located within the Novotel on Manly’s beachfront. Surrounded by outdoor terraces and sweeping views, this new venue can cater for weddings as small as 50 or as large as 200.

Furnished with soft timbers, natural stone, hammered metals and textiles of white and creams, walking into the Beachside Dojo feels like stepping into a holiday postcard. The air is fresher, the smell is a combination of coconut and lime and time seems to slow right down.

‘Dojo’ means ‘meeting place’ in Japanese and this theme has influenced the Japanese-inspired fare created by renowned chef previously of Surry Hill’s Toko and London’s Zuma, Benjamin Orpwood. The menu suits a lighter palette with an abundance of fresh seafood, wagyu beef and tropical fruits. With gluten-free, vegetarian and raw options, Beachside Dojo can cater for a range of dietary requirements.

The venue also provides an end-to-end service on the Big Day, allowing you to host your ceremony, reception and even stay overnight without taking a single step outside. It has two reception spaces, the Sunrise Dojo, which holds up to 120 people, has the highest vantage point of the beach and opens out onto a split-level rooftop balcony, and the Northern Dojo which is a more intimate setting holding up to 80 guests.

With the array of Australian and New Zealand wines available as part of the beverage packages, the beauty of Beachside Dojo is that you don’t have to travel far to find your bed for the night – simply wander upstairs to one of the 213 rooms at the Novotel!
