Every July, one of the biggest naming websites in the world, Nameberry, releases the list of the most popular names, gathering data from a whopping 40 million site visitors. The list gives us insight into what names are ‘so hot right now’ and what names are going out of style.

The 2016 list has just been released and there are some surprises.

Olivia replaces Charlotte as the most popular girl’s name and there are five new names in the top 10 list: Arabella, Aurora, Adeline, Isabella and Mia.

The boys names have stayed relatively the same from 2015, with Ezra, Asher, Atticus, Declan and Oliver remaining.

Some of the hottest names (names that have jumped significantly) include, Tobias, Xavier, Macwell, Astrid, Thea and Elise.
