A Work of Art

Wedding cake trends that are giving bakers full permission to unleash their inner artists is the cake that looks like a canvas. Often designed in a contemporary style of art with abstract details and layers of texture, these cakes are almost too beautiful to eat.

Your baker may paint tiny blossoms and brushstrokes on your cake with icing and other sugar adornments for a three-dimensional, one-of-a-kind appearance. The finished product is reminiscent of Impressionism.

Some are even untraditional in shape with a more slender silhouette and unique proportions. Not only do they look like edible sculptures, but they also tie in the entirety of the decor!

Separated tiers

Even though we are in 2022, we may see some allusions to early 1900s styles with this grand wedding cake trend. Instead of disguising the layers with frosting, more wedding cakes will feature divided tiers.

These cakes have visible pillars supporting the following tier, creating a larger and more extravagant cake tower. Some couples may choose to leave this empty area alone, while others may choose to fill it with fresh fruit or seasonal blossoms to match a bouquet or centrepiece.
