REAL WEDDING: JANANI AND RASHMIN

Laid back Sri Lankan couple Janani and Rashmin’s wedding was held at the Sydney Polo Club in Richmond. Its rustic farmyard styling set the theme for their beautiful wedding. The couple’s traditional Sri Lankan Buddhist Ceremony was held in the Grandstand, overlooking the Sydney Polo Club’s expansive lush green acreage.

For the ceremony, the bride wore a beautiful traditional white Kandiyan Saree, by Gather and Stitch, accentuating the outfit with traditional jewellery. She then changed into an exquisite strapless lace gown, for the reception, which was also designed by Gather and Stitch. The bride complemented her look with a soft romantic up-do and pretty pink-toned makeup.

The wooden platform in which the ceremony and traditional rituals were conducted, otherwise known as the ‘Poruwa Arch’, was beautifully decorated with handmade paper flowers and  gum leaves, while the base was decorated in the traditional rice, herbs and leaves. The groom and his family, and the bride and her family were led into the ceremony by Sri Lankan drummers.

After the ceremony the guests were able to wind down with a game of croquet while enjoying canapés and drinks.

The outdoor covered rustic styled reception was adorned with DIY decorations, place cards, table numbers, table seating plan and favours. The table centerpieces were laid on wooden tree slab with glass bottles wrapped in twine and filled with soft baby’s breath flowers. A simply beautiful layout.

At the end of a perfect evening, the couple rode off into the night in a gorgeous ‘64 Chevrolet.

Overall, the couple described their wedding as “intimate and laid back.” We couldn’t agree more! The couple’s wedding pictures truly depict the beautiful care-free atmosphere of their wedding.
