The Royal family just has a natural aura of elegance and regalness to them that makes us always want to be in the know of what is happening and trending within that family. It’s not only that that makes our heads turn, but the iconic and timeless looks the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, pulls off time and time again.
Here are some of Kate Middleton’s looks this year we’re absolutely obsessed with!
Commonwealth Day Service – March 14, 2022
The Princess of Wales attended the Commonwealth Day service held at Westminster Abbey in London dressed in this stunning royal blue Catherine Walker dress coat paired with a velvet trimmed bow-topped hat by Lock & Co. She matched the dress with navy-coloured heels from Ruperty Sanderson and clutch bag by Jimmy Choo. For a bit of sparkle, she wore a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings and a matching necklace. Everything about this outfit just exudes elegance.
Reception in Belize – March 21, 2022
It’s safe to say that Kate wowed everyone in this pink metallic shimmering gown with loose and ruffled shoulders by The Vampire’s Wife at a reception in Belize. She matched the outfit with her silver Jimmy Choo sandals and crystal drop earrings by O’nitaa. With the dress, she also carried a Mayan handmade white clutch bag.
Anzac Day – April 25, 2022
One thing about the Princess of Wales is she isn’t afraid to recycle clothes. The Princess of Wales, Kate, showed her commitment to sustainable fashion by re-wearing a white Alexander McQueen coat dress and matching hat by Jane Taylor for Anzac Day. She paired the outfit with pearl drop earrings previously worn by Princess Diana and black pumps. The last time we saw her wear the same outfit was in 2015 during Princess Charlotte’s christening.
Top Gun Premiere – May 19, 2022
The Cambridges attended the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in a stunning fashion. Kate wore a black-and-white off-the-shoulder gown by Roland Mouret. We’re in love with the dress’ silhouette on her. We think the dress’ Bardot neckline compliments her really well. Kate completed the whole look with Prada pumps, a clutch bag from Alexander McQueen, and earrings by Robinson Pelham. William also looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo.
Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II – June 3, 2022
The Princess of Wales attended the National Service of Thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in a bright lemon-coloured dress by Emilia Wickstead, matched nude pumps. She also paid tribute to The Queen, who was unable to attend, by wearing her Bahrain pearl earrings and to top it all off – a matching fascinator.
Roundtable with Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood – June 16, 2022
Nothing else screams girl boss more than this chic power suit from Alexander McQueen. We often see Kate in her coat dresses but she also rocks her pantsuits from time to time while fulfilling her role as the Princess of Wales. She matched it with suede pumps and jewellery by Mappin & Webb. She wore this while hosting a roundtable with her Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood.
Royal Ascot – June 17, 2022
Kate made a stylish arrival at the Royal Ascot in a glamorous white and brown polka dot Alessandra Rich dress, paired with a matching hat and pumps. No one pulls off these statement hats and fascinators as she does. She completed the look with diamond and pearl drop earrings that belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Sailing Event – July 31, 2022
It’s rare for us to see the Princess of Wales in such a casual outfit, but we still think it’s so chic and sporty. For a sailing event, she wore a striped cashmere sweater paired with white high-waisted shorts featuring gold details. She finished the look with her trusty Superga sneakers and dainty gold earrings.
Queen Elizabeth’s Official State Funeral – September 19, 2022
In a nod to the late Queen, Kate chose to wear pearl jewellery at the monarch’s official state funeral. Not only were pearls a favourite of the Queen, but it also symbolizes mourning, a tradition that dates back to the time of Queen Victoria. Kate paid tribute to the late Queen by wearing the Japanese Pearl Choker necklace, a piece that was gifted to Queen Elizabeth by Japan in the ’70s and was a favourite of the Queen.
Diplomatic Corps Reception – December 6, 2022
For the annual Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace, Kate chose a stunning red gown by Jenny Packham that featured intricate embellishments. Kate added a touch of glamour to her ensemble with the Lotus Flower Tiara (also known as the Papyrus Tiara) and a pair of Queen Elizabeth’s diamond earrings.
