Kylie Jenner is not like most 20-year-olds, so it’s always fascinating to get a refreshing insight into the life of one of the world’s most famous faces.
Older half-sister Kim Kardashian interviewed Kylie exclusively for the Evening Standard, and she opened up about everything from motherhood to her relationship with her family.
As the Evening Standard writes, “there’s a vulnerability to Kylie” which is obvious when she begins talking about life as a new mother and the way Stormi makes her feel.
She tells Kim that motherhood has been “amazing, and so much fun” but admits that there are hard times.
“It was so hard to leave this morning. I’m like, ‘I’ll be right back, I’m so sorry, I have to leave!’ and she doesn’t even know what’s going on. I think about her all the time, anywhere I am,” she tells Kim. “I would rather be with her or wish she can come everywhere. I can’t wait till she can come everywhere with me, because right when she’s old enough I’ll bring her everywhere.”
On Stormi’s name and the fuss that it caused, Kylie says that Travis Scott, her partner and Stormi’s father, chose the name, though she feels like it was her.
“I didn’t really like just Storm — I didn’t feel like that was her name. So then it became Stormi. And it just stuck.”
She admits that there are “a lot of other names that I might have even liked better to be honest, but I feel like Stormi picked her own name, like it was just her name.”
Of becoming a mother, Kylie says it’s made her less selfish as she constantly thinks about Stormi’s future.
“Every time I leave and I’m stressed about leaving her, I’m like, ‘I’m doing it for you.’ Everyone says you change completely when you become a mom, but I really feel the same, just better.
“You’re less selfish — and I actually enjoy changing diapers. It’s really satisfying. To make her clean again.”
She also goes into how she turned her insecurity about her lips into a multi-million dollar business, and that she hopes to expand worldwide, saying that “lipstick is what helped me feel confident. And I feel like people could see that it’s authentic to me, and it was organic, and it just worked!”
Opening up about her family, she says that being pregnant around the same time as Kim and Khloe brought her even closer to her sisters, especially Khloe as she asked her to be in the delivery room with her.
“[Khloe] was so freaked, that she said, ‘Hey, you guys, never should a pregnant woman be in another delivery room until it’s your time.’
“I needed Khloé in the room with me. I think it made her more scared. She was there for all my other sisters. She’s just very, very nurturing. So she really helped me through the whole thing. Everyone should have Khloé in their delivery room.”
