Despite the progress we’ve made in 2018, it seems as though no one is safe from online trolls – including Kourtney Kardashian‘s 8-year-old Mason Dash Disick.
In a sweet Instagram post, father Scott Disick posted a photo of him and Mason on a boat with the caption “My life.” While most people responded positively to the sweet moment captured between father and son, there was a loud minority who had a little to say about Mason’s appearance.

Despite the fact that Mason is only a child, people were quick to jump on the fact that he has thick brows, using the excuse that he is the son of a Kardashian – a family who have built an empire on their looks – and that their fortune should have something to do with Mason’s appearance. Others said that the amount of time Kourtney spends on her own looks should translate to her son.
Despite the unkind words, others were quick to jump to Mason’s defence, calling out those who stooped so low as to make fun of an 8-year-old boy online.
Unfortunately, we all know mum-shaming isn’t anything new. We see and hear it when women breastfeed in public, choose to dress their children in certain clothes, and even how they play with their kids (Chrissy Teigen taking Luna down a slide comes to mind). In Kourtney’s situation, it seems as though there is no winning.
By choosing not to touch her son’s eyebrows, she is shamed for “not taking care of his appearance.” Had she chosen to tweeze his brows, she would most likely cop abuse for putting her son through pain in the quest for society’s idea of beauty.
A friendly reminder to all: hair is natural and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
