When is the best time to get Wedded at The InterContinental Fiji?

Tropical Fiji enjoys balmy weather all year round, offering the perfect destination for a Fijian wedding experience at any time of year. That said, their most popular months for weddings tend to be during April and July to October. This is due to a combination of school holiday periods and Fiji’s peak periods between June to August when it is considered the dryer season. Looking to save? The resort offers discounted rates for couples looking to book outside of peak periods including dates from November to March each year.

How many people can you host at a Wedding at The InterContinental Fiji?

The number of guests that couples can host at their wedding starts from an intimate wedding experience for two with their Vau Vata Wedding package and extends up to a maximum of 400 guests with a bespoke experience. The resort ensures to only host one wedding on any given day, so the team is truly dedicated to the couple and their guests on their special day.

The InterContinental Fiji Wedding Show

The resort recently hosted a wedding show and famil, the team told us that “this was a great opportunity to showcase our unique resort and work with our local vendors and partners to highlight why Fiji is the ideal destination for weddings. Coming out of COVID, we found it even more important to be able to connect our wedding planners from around the World, with our own team and Fijian vendors that we use to bring wedding dreams to life. The event included two days of personalised wedding setups, curated dining experiences and face-to-face meetings with our key vendors and partners”.

They hosted a number of wedding planners from Australia, New Zealand and North America offering them the chance to experience all the elements of a wedding in Fiji and meet with local vendors and partners. They highlighted all the possible wedding locations at the resort from the beautiful 360-degree glass wedding pavilion overlooking Natadola Bay, the white sands of Kama beachfront, and the private manicured lawns of Navo Restaurant overlooking the ocean and Navo Island.

“Nothing says ‘destination wedding’ quite like exchanging vows against the backdrop of the azure South Pacific stretching out to the horizon, framed by palm trees and a pristine sandy beach”.

Which vendors were represented at the event and were they Fiji-based?

We wanted to bring together all the elements required to create a seamless destination wedding. The Fiji-based vendors ranged from wedding and event theming, photography, hair and makeup, group tours, sustainable and luxury gift supplies and more.

Destination wedding landscape in Fiji

“Since reopening to international visitors in December 2021, we have experienced great demand from travellers wanting to visit Fiji. In September 2022 alone, over 78,000 international travellers visited our nation which is positive to see after the international borders were closed for so long. As we are positioned only a short flight from Australia and New Zealand, it’s no surprise that Aussie’s accounted for 53% and Kiwis 28% of the international visitor numbers in September 2022.

With the amazing marketing and promotional work done by partners such as Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji to promote our destination for all forms of celebrations, we are optimistic that 2023 will see an uplift in our short haul destinations inclusive of Australia, and New Zealand. Fiji is a close and safe destination for our Australasian market and the Fiji Government has relaxed restrictions for all visitors to Fiji to enter our country”.
