While these uncertain times have been tough on all of us, we love seeing couples’ creative sides shine through! This couple in particular, put a major smile on our faces when they had a hilarious ‘Postponement Photoshoot’.
Like many other couples, Kim Henrickson and her partner David Woolston, have had to postpone their wedding plans due to the current restrictions on social gatherings. They put a humorous twist on their postponement, by announcing their new date through a series of hilarious, Coronavirus-themed photographs.
The couple had been planning their wedding for two years, and were set to marry in May.
“We thought we’d take some photos and put them out there just to bring some smiles to people’s faces. It’s such a depressing decision to postpone our wedding, but we needed to make something positive out of it.We tried everything to save our initial date, but after rebooking my hen’s party four times, shifting all our photographers and caterers and trying to abide by social-distancing laws, we just thought we’d postpone.” Henrickson told 9Honey.
“Our celebrant suggested we take a postponement shoot – something she’d seen couples do overseas. We just needed a pick me up and something fun to do to turn this into a positive, so we thought, ‘Why not?'”
Dressed as a casual bride and groom, the couple announced their wedding date change in a series of hilarious photographs, in which they posed with bottles of Corona beer and a chalkboard announcing the new date. Woolston went a step further by reenacting a proposal, swapping traditional engagement ring with a pack of toilet paper!
Organised within hours, the couple hosted their postponement shoot in a dog-walking trail off the back of their Brisbane property, practicing social distancing with their photographer. “We made sure we didn’t break any rules, and our photographer Edwina even shot us with a long lens.“
“People kept telling us it was such a great idea and a nice way to turn a negative into a positive. I didn’t realise how many other couples are going through what we’re going through at the moment.”
Praise has flooded in for the couple, with people sharing their sympathy towards their situation. One user wrote: “We have had to cancel our wedding also it was so devastating! I’m glad you could have some fun in this crap time.” and another user adding: “My wedding was supposed to be on March 28th and I thought of doing the same thing but just wouldn’t feel the same for me,” commented another.”
