Billie Bridger wed Angus Higgins on October 9 in Brisbane, Australia, and their dreamy wedding couldn’t have been more perfect.

To make the big day even more special, the bride’s own mother, luxury destination wedding planner and Wedded Week exhibitor Alysia Bridger, took the planning lead for the momentous event. What a joy it must have been to make the magic happen for her own daughter!

How They Met

According to Billie, she met Angus at a beach party in Palm Beach after she had moved back to Sydney. While they shared a number of mutual friends, they had never actually met before then. Eventually, they discovered that their pairing was meant to be.

Angus proposed to his soon-to-be bride in the Dolomite mountain range in Italy. After they hiked up a mountain peak, he popped the question with the stunning skyline spanning behind them, creating the most romantic backdrop for the occasion! The celebratory dinner was held at a beautiful alpine lodge, and the rest was history.

The Wedding

The ceremony took place at the Cathedral of St. Stephen in elaborate fashion. Guests of the couple filled the front of the church, dressed to the nines in tuxedos and springtime dresses. As the bride walked down the aisle in her jaw-dropping couture gown, her groom couldn’t help but shed a tear!

With photographer Cassandra Ladru behind the lens, the snaps of the wedding were filled with the warmth and vibrant spirit of the bride and groom. Take a look at the gallery below!

Alysia Bridger, wedding planner and mother of the bride, told Wedded Wonderland that it was a fairytale wedding through and through. “They were surrounded by so much love and every second was honestly just magic,” she said.

Alysia was all praises for every element in Billie and Angus’ special day, and made sure to highlight the amazing suppliers who helped make it happen. “The speeches, all our amazing family and friends, the food, their custom ice, the music, their entrance to their reception that had everyone up and dancing, their violinist, their illustrator, our magician Mike, sitting under their stunning fairylit Sperry tent, all the candles and trees, their amazing cake, their gorgeous chairs and table settings, their stunning florals and bridal table adorned with hydrangeas, their gorgeous stationery, their beautiful gift bottles with limoncello for everyone, all the dancing and singing and Angus looking so dashing in his tails and Billie absolutely breathtaking in her George Wu gowns,” she swooned.

Billie even recreated her favorite group photo from her parents’ 1996 wedding. It was so sweet!

Now, onto the reception! The garden setup was housed beneath a white tent adorned with delicate fairy lights, and the tables were abloom with white and periwinkle flowers. Soft and subtle, the overall theme was regal and elegant.

A standout detail in the reception was the creative and scene-stealing custom ice. Created by Icepac, the ice cubes in the cocktails bore the couple’s initials.

To cap off their wedding day, Billie and Angus danced the night away surrounded by their beloved friends and family. Their smiles could have turned night to day!

“I wish I could bottle every second and every detail forever,” Alysia shared. “Billie and Angus together light up the world, and their love, energy and enthusiasm for life and each other is contagious.  It was also so special that our other daughter Jess was Billie’s Maid of Honour, and that our son Jim was one of Angus’s groomsmen. After planning hundreds of weddings for my super super gorgeous couples,  it was just so very special to be Mother of the Bride for the day.”

The Bridal Gown

Now, no wedding recap would be complete without a deep dive into the details on the bridal gown. There is absolutely no doubt that Billie’s wedding regalia was one for the books. She wore a magnificent gown with long lace sleeves, a Queen Anne neckline, and a regal voluminous skirt that cascaded into a long trail, complementing her sublime cathedral veil.

Created by Australian couturier George Wu, the gown and veil were intricate masterpieces that took months of intensive work to make.

“Creating Billie’s stunning French lace gown was a labour of love that spanned over 450 hours,” shared the designer. “For her cathedral ceremony, she envisioned a traditional couture masterpiece, and I was thrilled to incorporate intricate lace craftsmanship as a defining element. To enhance her silhouette, we designed an old couture corset within the gown, channeling the timeless elegance of old Hollywood.”

“The exquisite lace was sourced from a century-old mill in Northern France, renowned for its use of the original Leavers machine. Each hem was meticulously crafted by hand, with layers of lace carefully overlapped, stitched, and trimmed to achieve a seamless finish,” shared George.

“While this level of detail may go unnoticed by many, it represents a labor-intensive stage in the couture process. Additionally, the unique edge of this French lace made adjusting the hem height a delicate task.”

George Wu also created the bride’s reception dress, which was a sultry sheer piece with a high slit, halter neckline, and sparkly detailing.

“The final look was a true reflection of Billie’s personality—modern yet elegant, embodying her unique style. As the evening unfolded, we introduced a second dress designed to infuse glamour and celebration into the event. My vision was to create something sparkly and sexy that contrasted beautifully with Billie’s ceremonial gown. This dress celebrated her figure and featured intricate hand-beading with high-reflective glass beads, capturing Billie’s playful spirit and lighting up the dance floor.”
