An Industrial-Chic Adelaide Wedding

On the last few days of their European summer holiday, Alanna and Ben headed out to a last-minute dinner at one of Santorini’s top restaurants. The couple were seated on the rooftop, to watch the infamous sunset. The couple enjoyed a bottle of wine and entrées while it was still daylight, and when the sun began to set, Ben asked Alanna to go and take a photo of the sunset…

Alanna left the table to get a better shot, and when she returned, Ben had slid off his chair and gotten on one knee! The bride-to-be burst out in tears from the shock, while the patrons of the restaurant (who were in on it), cheered and popped a bottle of champagne. The couple drank the bubbles, ate some food, and then wandered the streets of Santorini a little tipsy, and so in love!

The Wedding

The Best Moment

“The best moment was when the dance floor opened at the reception! Our wedding was right before the lockdown restrictions came in place, however COVID still put a massive damper on the lead up to the wedding – we almost thought we weren’t going to be able to go ahead. When the dance floor finally opened at the reception, I couldn’t believe how many people jumped up and had the time of their lives! It was full and stayed that way most of the night. It’s like everyone was relieved to be able to let their hair down and forget about COVID for a night. I think people thought it would be the last Hurrah and wanted to go out with a bang! The official lock down was announced the day after our wedding…”

The Most Unique Aspect

“As much as I hate to say it, COVID was the most unique part. We had to change everything 2 days before from the wedding. We had to move the whole reception outdoors to comply with the restrictions. The day before the wedding, we had to redo all our tables to ensure that they were 1.5m apart. Despite it all, it worked out perfect.”

Something You Would Change

“I would like to have had more time in the morning to spend with family and loved ones. It felt so rushed getting ready and then having to have photos straight away. Without realising, you almost forget to enjoy the moment with your loved ones. Just having some extra quiet time with them before it got crazy would have been amazing.”
