This Bride’s Three Metre Train Turns Into A Cape

Memories are movies in our minds … and that was our dream for our wedding day; to create an experience not only for ourselves, but for our guests. Keeping authentic to our style, our day was all about classic modernism – the juxtaposition between past and present. With our ceremony held at the monastery of Red Hill, followed by a weekend away for all our guests at Jackalope, we tried to make each minute a special moment. The sleek, sharp and dark lines of Jackalope, contrasted with the all-white cloud of flowers set a whimsical tone for our Dream Day.

My initial dress inspiration was my mother’s dress, her dress incorporated pleating and I knew I wanted to start with that. What Jaton created was the perfect mix of understated elegance and architectural lines. The weighted Italian silk provided a structural element, reminiscent of Ancient Greek statues – and was able to turn its three-metre train into a sculptured cape.

The evening ensued with an evening overlooking the vineyards of Jackalope, and when the main party came to a close, the after party began in Flaggerdoot bar of Jackalope. As our guests all had their own room at the hotel – they had the luxury of staying up and enjoying themselves into the early hours of the morning. The next day a farewell breakfast was followed, bringing the weekend to remember to a close; and our guests all shared their delight in their special weekend getaway.
