A milkshake turned marriage love story for Jon-Ray and Emellie

There isn’t a better feeling than marrying your best friend (don’t you agree!) Power couple Jon-Ray and Emellie share a 7 year love story that started with waffles and milkshakes from Oliver Brown (which is pretty ironic for this fitness couple). A dessert combination we all know too well, turned into an unmatched friendship and soon a forever love. We chatted with Jon-Ray and Emellie and they told us more details on their journey to the aisle.

Love Story

The Sakrs love story  all started with a dessert date (we all know, the best first dates start with food)! Bride Emellie said that her and now-husband Jon-Ray “instantly hit it off and became closer” after their first date and… they’ve been inseparable ever since. Jon-Ray  wanted to pop the question to Emellie and gathered his friends to assist with his proposal. He took his future bride to Kangaroo Valley and staged the proposal ‘above the clouds’, surrounded by candles, florals and cushions where Emellie said forever yes to her lover of 7 years. Bride Emellie told us that “ it was so beautiful and I loved that our friends played a role In setting up the proposal without me knowing”. Husband Jon-Ray  took to instagram and caption his proposal pic saying “To all that we’ve done, and all that we’ll continue to do. Together, till the end” nawwwwwwww.

Wedding

Exactly one year later, Jon-Ray  and Emellie said I do at their winter wedding! Accompanied by their closest family and friends, the beautiful couple concentrated their marriage in a ceremony at St Patrick’s Cathedral. For the reception Bride Emellie mentioned that they particularly prioritized food and entertainment. She told us that “Jon-Ray  and myself love food’ (don’t we all) so they treated their guest to a signature Chef. Offering a variety of gourmet delicacies, the Chef cooked up a storm at the venue and designed a custom menu for the couple on their special evening. After indulging in endless plates of deliciousness, the guests sat back (in their food comas hahaha) and watched the Sakr’s have their first dance as Husband and Wife. Serenaded in song by famous vocalist Chris Sebastian, the couple stared into each other’s eyes and shared some giggles whilst swaying on the dance floor. The guests then joined them on the stage and boogied to the live band all night longgggg (all night)! The couple didn’t want any florals to go to waste and even had their florist organize bouquets for guests to take home as they exited their big day. Jon-Ray  and Emellie said that this was one of their favorite elements and that they ”really liked that every guest went home with a gift”.

The Dress

After reading this wedding journey, we know that Emellie’s lucky number must be number 7…you’ll see why. The gorgeous Bride wore a custom Lillian Khaouf that was made over 7 months, and featured a fitted waistline, internal corsetry, hand drapery and off the shoulder drafted sleeves. Made of Ivory Mikado, her gown was luxe on the eye and gave a seamless structure. After 7 fittings leading up to the week of the wedding, Emellie said “ I always knew what I wanted for my gown, my vision was to have a gown that is classic and  timeless and I worked closely with Lillian to create the perfect gown for me”. 7 years of love, 7 months of dress making and 7 bridal appointments later, Emellie tied the knot (now do you see?).

Advice to Future Brides

“Create your special day the way you and your partner always imagined. You will receive a ton of advice from friends and family but always let the final decision be yours. Try not to stress too much about the finer details, everything will always work out perfect and if it doesn’t, trust me you wont notice on the day. Hire a stylist if you can to help you- they really guided me and took a tonne of pressure off”.
