A Gatsby Inspired Art Deco Wedding

Kane and Phoebe were destined to meet each other. The couple was spending the night at a bar, when Kane first laid eyes on Phoebe: “I opened the door for Phoebe as she came out to the balcony and she looked just like a princess”. They were both instantly attracted to each other upon meeting, shared their first kiss and the rest is history.

The night of their proposal, Phoebe was blown away as Kane had set up a little adventure for her, where she found notes with instructions as to where to go. Kane would go on to propose to Phoebe, by leaving a letter under her pillow and asking her to get dressed up, pack a getaway bag and meet him at the Cullen Hotel. Phoebe was then given a key upon arrival, leading her to the rooftop, which overlooked where the couple had first met. Kane handed over a canvas with graffiti art to Phoebe, illustrating the words: “Phoebe Wallace, will you marry me?”

The couple followed timeless, elegant theme with Gatsby-inspired elements of art deco design. A rose gold and blush theme layout was used for their invitations, and Pinterest was their go-to for more Gatsby inspiration. Ah, don’t you just love Pinterest, Fairies?

To add to the unique theme, the lovebirds decided to go for a cheese wheel stacked wedding cake, to deliver some savoury deliciousness to their guests after their desserts! The layers consisted of; Bay of Fires Cheddar, Le Dauphin Double Crème, Chevre Rambouillet Bleu & Normandy Camembert.

The couple held their ceremony and reception in Melbourne’s downtown Fitzroy, a town filled with street art and boutique stores. It was the perfect way to capture their wedding theme, as they loved the overall fusion between elegance and an informal New York City vibe.
