5 ESSENTIALS TO TAKE TO YOUR DRESS FITTING

You have the man, the rock and the wedding date set. So what’s next? The dress!

Your wedding dress is probably the most important dress you’ll ever wear, so you want to get it right when it comes to your fittings. The first thing you should know is exactly what you need to bring with you to your fittings.

If there is someone who knows the process from start to finish it’s Morgan Mandic of Mira Mandic’s Bridal boutique. Based in Double Bay, Mira Mandic is known for beautiful lace, luxe textures and exquisite custom designs. Mira, Morgan’s mother, believed that every design should enhance the natural beauty of the female form while also expressing the client’s individual style. Now, as Head Designer, this is a tradition that Morgan continues.

Below are Morgan’s top 5 essentials to bring to your dress fitting:

Your lingerie
This may be underwear/ shape wear/ bra/ strapless bra/ stick on cups (or nothing if you’re feeling game). The style of the gown you choose will determine the best lingerie to wear.

If you are unsure, speak to a consultant before your fittings to see what type of lingerie is appropriate.

Your Shoes
It’s so important to bring shoes with the same heel height as the pair you plan to wear on your wedding day. This will allow you and the designer to accurately judge the length the gown will need to be hemmed at. If you already have your wedding shoes, it’s a great idea to bring them along as it can help break them in.

Your accessories
If you are going to be wearing specific jewellery (necklace, earrings, a head piece, bracelets etc) make sure to bring these accessories to your fitting so you can try them on with the dress and see what works best. Often what you thought would work may not.

You may need a standout accessory or perhaps something a little more subtle so as not to overpower the dress.

Your mother and/or maid of honour
We suggest bringing your mother, and/or maid of honour or even the person who will be dressing you on the day. At your final fitting, they will be taught how to do your dress up, place the train for photos and bustle the train for your reception.

This will make your wedding day a much more pleasant and relaxed experience for everyone.

Time and a calm attitude
These are ignored too often! By making sure that you have ample time and remaining calm may be the difference between having a great experience or a stressful one. Don’t rush to and from appointments and arrived flustered.

And finally, we recommend packing everything the night before. This will help you to avoid forgetting anything and save you from the last minute rush, and showing up with a pair of mismatched heels!

Happy fittings Fairies!
